KTRANS(1) KTRANS(1) NAME ktrans - language transliterator SYNOPSIS ktrans DESCRIPTION The ktrans program installs itself between the keyboard and /dev/cons and transliterates typed letter sequences into characters in languages that do not use the Latin character set. The language is selected by typing a control charac- ter: ctl-E return to default English mode (no transliteration). ctl-G Japanese hiragana: interpret lower-case letters as a Hepburn representation of hiragana. In this mode, typ- ing ctl-T looks up the last `word' in a hiragana-kanji dictionary and replaces it. Subsequent ctl-T charac- ters cycle through the possibilities. A word is the longest immediately preceding unbroken string of hira- gana characters. ctl-K Japanese katakana. ctl-R Russian: interpret letters as Cyrillic; the transliter- ation is mostly phonetic, with ' for myagkij-znak (ь), '' for tverdyj-znak (ъ) yo for ё, j for i-kratkaya (й). ctl-L Greek.
